California does for purchases less then $1500.

Texas charges sales taxes on PM purchases under 1000 frns.
If you can't swing that much in one purchase, you might talk the dealer into an arrangement whereby you aggregate a few purchases together to get to the magic number. |

Same in Massachusetts: taxable for purchases below $1000. I believe this minimum purchase rule was put in place to exempt transactions between dealers, which are routinely above $1000. Of course, gold was a lot lower than $1050/ounce when the minimum was established...

Yeah, either accumulate at Bullion Direct or buy from Apmex, IMHO.
